Leading supplier, installer and maintenance provider for combined heat and power (CHP) and power generation solutions, Edina Group, is celebrating its 50th MWM gas engine sold in Ireland.
The 50th MWM engine was sold to an existing customer, located in Armagh, and is part of a project to process waste that otherwise would be sent to landfill.
The biogas produced from this feedstock will be burned and converted into electricity. The supplied MWM TCG 2016 V12 500kWe biogas CHP plant will generate enough electricity to power the sites infrastructure, becoming self-reliant from the electricity grid.
Edina is the sole distributor for market leading MWM gas engines in Ireland and the UK, and has held the distributorship in these territories since 2006. During this time, Edina has installed over 49.8MWe across the North and South of Ireland with genset units ranging from 400kWe to the recently installed 3.3MWe CHP engine at global eye health manufacturer, Bausch + Lomb, situated at Waterford City.
With over 30 years’ industry knowledge in delivering power generation and CHP solutions, Edina have been privileged to support a number of high profile clients including Queen’s University Belfast, Dublin Airport and Google’s European Headquarters, as well as a number of critical hospital installations for the major Health Care Trusts.
Edina have a strong market presence, with offices in Lisburn, Dublin and Cork, as well as Manchester and Australia, it’s manufacturing facility based in Lisburn, produces containerised and control panel solutions for customers across the entire group. Edina also has the largest service team in Ireland, providing market leading after-sales care with over 30 directly employed service and maintenance engineers situated at its three strategically located service depots in Lisburn, Dublin and Cork.
Across Edina’s entire business in Ireland, the UK and Australia, the group has supplied over 300 genset with a total power output of 409.4MWe installed. This is a huge achievement and has seen the group win major contracts for the NHS Trust, Universities, Council and Local Authorities, Food and Drink Processing manufacturers, Utility providers, Demand Response application and District Heating and Community Schemes.
Furthermore, and during the prestigious Association of Decentralised Energy (ADE) Awards, which took place on the evening of Wednesday 23rd November 2016, Edina were recognised and won the ‘Integrated Energy Project of the Year’ category award with district heating project, London Citigen.
ADE Director, Tim Rotheray, commented; “The Integrated Energy award recognises projects where a range of different technologies or approaches have been brought together to create an integrated solution. Regeneration means different things to different people, but it’s probably an apt word to use for the winner in this category. This project provided a new lease of life to an existing energy asset, and if anything their award entry downplayed how difficult this project clearly was.”
The prestigious award builds upon Edina’s industry success in delivering recognised power generation projects across Ireland, the UK, and recently in Australia, with organics processor, Richgro.
During the 2015 ADE award ceremony, Edina won the ‘Industrial and Commercial Project of the Year’ category award with project entry Arla Foods. The project demonstrated Edina’s capabilities and technical expertise in designing and supplying a CHP plant that included an innovative natural gas / biogas integration system. Edina’s involvement in the project contributed significantly to Arla Food’s long term environmental strategy and their purpose built site at Aylesbury has become, and is recognised, as the world’s first zero carbon dairy production facility.
In retrospect, 2016 has been a great year for Edina, and the group aims to build upon its success in 2017, providing exceptional customer service, delivering and installing award winning projects and continued growth within the CHP and power generation industry to support its clients to reduce their energy costs, greenhouse gases and improving business competitiveness.
