Team Edina are delighted to raise over £5,000 for charities the MS Society and Mind Manchester as part of a coast to coast cycle challenge.
The 170 mile cycle, which saw 13 cyclists from Edina’s Manchester office brave the wet weather on Saturday (8th September), starting 9am from Glannaventa Roman Bath House in Ravenglass, making their way 107 miles east to an overnight stop in Gilsland, with the last members arriving at 8pm.
The wet conditions continued Sunday (9th September) with the Team Edina cycling the remaining 67 miles, climbing altitudes of over 800ft, towards the final destination at Arbeia Roman Fort, South Shields, finishing at 5pm.
Team Edina’s cyclists included; Allan Keefe, Andy Hierons, Andy Slavin, Christian Frain, Dan Clark, Darren Cowley, Dean Cooper, Kelvin Arkwright, Martin Bailey, Pete Waters, Scott Beddow, Steve Nullis and William Power, and were accompanied by support drivers; Allan Fitzpatrick, Donna Turner, Gavin Sharples, Christine Ennis and Steve Downs.
The total raised to date is £5,599.76 with donations still coming in – the money will be divided equally between Mind Manchester & MS Society.
In the run up to the cycle, Edina held a number of fundraising events to include ‘The Great Edina Bake-Off, an evening of Curry and Pitch ‘n’ Putt, and dress down Friday’s, which raised over £500 for these outstanding charities.
